Gunmen Storm Residence Of Former FCT Minister Jeremiah Useni

Former FCT Minister, Lt. Gen Jeremiah Useni (retd.) escaped death as gunmen, suspected to be hired assassins, stormed his house in Langtang North Local Government Area, Plateau State, in the early hours
of July 17, 2014, Thursday.

Fortunately, Mr Useni, who is the Chairman, Board of Trustees, Arewa Consultative Forum was not at home when the suspected hired assassins invaded his home.
According to a witnesses, the suspects shot at the building about 48 times.
Meanwhile, Mr. Useni, a member of the on-going National Conference, in a telephone interview with journalists on Thursday evening, confirmed the incident saying:
“I was not there myself, but I was told of the incident. No one was killed, but I will later today (Thursday) visit the scene to see things for myself.”
The Police Public Relation Officer, PPRO, of the Plateau State command, Abuh Emmanuel, who also confirmed the incident to journalists in Jos, said the alleged assassins were repelled by the police in the area.
“The suspects shot sporadically at the building, but no one was killed. Police have brought the situation under control,” he said.
Lt. General Jeremiah Useni was the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja during the reign of the late Head of State, Gen. Sani Abacha.
The ex minister joined the Army at the age of 14. Firstly, he was one of the soldiers who fired shots during the coup against General Ironsi, in which the General was killed in Ibadan.
Mr. Useni was also the closest person to General Abacha up to his last moments.
