IBB, Abdulsalami, Borno Governor Meet Behind Closed Door

Following incessant attacks by Boko Haram in Borno state, the governor of the state, Kassim Shettima, yesterday, July 19th, held a closed-door meeting with Gen. Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida.
Former head of state, General Abdulsalami Abubakar reportedly joined them later for the meeting
which held at IBB’s hilltop mansion in Minna, Niger state.

According to Leadership report, Gov Shettima arrived at shortly after the Friday Jumat prayers with his retinue and entered into a closed door meeting with the former military president.
Shettima was said to have left the residence at about 3.30 pm., spent about an hour with Babangida.
Though details of the meeting is yet unknown there are speculations that it may not be unconnected with the current security challenges in Borno state.
Borno state has come under several attacks by the dreaded Boko Haram sect who have causing havoc through a wave of bombings, assassinations and now abductions.
Despite the state of emergency in the area, imposed by the Federal Government, Boko Haram attacks communities in the state almost everyday.
On July 5, it was reported that Boko Haram sect attacked a military base and police Station in Damboa Local Government area of Borno State killing no fewer than 12 soldiers, 4 policemen including a Divisional Police Officer (DPO) and four civilians.
On July 1, a bomb explosion occurred in Maiduguri, Borno State, which left 18 people dead and 55 severally injured.
On June 25, the suspected Boko Haram terrorists killed about 16 soldiers at a military block-post, Bulabulin Ngaura in Damboa LGA of Borno.
The abduction of over 200 Chibok school girls on April 14 in Borno State was the one which attracted a lot of attention both locally and internationally.
