A 35-year-old commercial motorcyclist, named
Ismaila Isa, reportedly ended his life yesterday at Onipepeye area of
Ibadan, Oyo State.
Isa was said to have parked his bike and then jumped into a pool where he drowned before help could get to him.According
to an eyewitness, Isa came from Adegbayi/Alakia end of the road and then he parked his bike. Before they knew what was happening, he had jumped into the deep pool where he died.
Okada riders and residents of the area watched helplessly as Isa drowned and no one could save him.
The incident, which left many surprised and shocked, attracted lots of sympathisers who were left wondering what could have made Isa commit suicide.
According to Vanguard report, the owner of the motorcycle which the deceased used to ride, said, Isa always gave him the agreed amount at the end of each day’s work and he was not owing him at all.
Confirming the incident, the Oyo State Director of Fire Services, Oyekunle Kareem said the corpse of the deceased had been handed over to the Police.
However, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, SP Olabisi Okuwobi-Ilobanafor said the command was yet to be informed about the incident.
